A high risk / high reward speculative portfolio may hold up to 10% of a clients net worth with the goal of delivering above average returns. The majority of  speculative investment recommendations are in resource or energy focused companies listed on the TSX or the TSXV. Occasionally, investment opportunities also arise in other areas of interest such as green technologies.

Speculative markets are of a cyclical nature with investors moving back and forth between optimism and pessimism. The various sub-sectors in the overall resource sector are also linked to commodity prices and global economic growth.

Developing trends are followed very closely and companies are evaluated based on their share structure, management’s experience and past successes, commodity focus, geological merits, political risk, liquidity and financial situation. Positions are accumulated through market purchases, private placements, ipo’s and various other financing mechanisms.

There are no minimum account requirements, however, preference is towards clients that are high net worth individuals and institutions.
